David J. DiBenedetto, MD
Dr. DiBenedetto is a founding partner of Boston Pain Care and serves as Medical Director. Dr. DiBenedetto graduated from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1992 and completed residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Virginia in 1996. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. DiBenedetto served as Chief of Anesthesia and Pain Services at Deaconess-Waltham Hospital from 1998-2002, and Chief of Anesthesia and Pain Services at Milton Hospital from 2002-2006. He holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Zahid Bajwa, MD
Dr. Bajwa is the Director of the Headache Institute at Boston Pain Care and serves as Director of Clinical Research.
Dr. Bajwa attended medical school at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his postdoctoral medical training at SUNY County Hospital in New York, followed by a residency in neurology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York and completed a pain medicine fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
Dr. Bajwa was responsible for leading numerous clinical trials during his 20 years with Harvard Medical School/ Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His research team focused on migraine, headache, persistent pain related to neural injury, acute post-operative pain, back pain, and cancer pain, among other pain conditions.
Michael Schatman, Ph.D., CPE
Dr. Michael Schatman is Director of Research and Network Development for Boston PainCare. He is a clinical psychologist who has spent the past 32 years working in multidisciplinary chronic pain management. He is also currently on the teaching faculty of the Department of Public Health & Community Medicine at the Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Schatman is the author of over 100 journal articles and book chapters on various aspects of chronic pain management, and lectures regularly on pain management on local, national and international bases. He is also the editor of Ethical Issues in Chronic Pain Management and Chronic Pain Management: Guidelines for Multidisciplinary Program Development, both of which were released by Informa Healthcare in 2007. Dr. Schatman is a member of the Editorial Boards of numerous journals. For the past 4 years, he has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pain Research. He is the past-Chairperson of the Ethics Special Interest Group of the American Pain Society, is a member of the Ethics Committee of the American Pain Society, the Ethics Council of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and is on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Pain Educators – which named him 2011 Clinical Pain Educator of the Year.
Kelly M. Wawrzyniak, PsyD
Dr. Wawrzyniak is the Director of Clinical Research Development and a licensed clinical psychologist at Boston PainCare with a specialization in health psychology. Dr. Wawrzyniak previously worked with Dr. Nathaniel Katz, founder of Analgesic Solutions, where she worked in the department of psychometrics and outcomes and fulfilled roles of sub-investigator, project manager, and study coordinator on a number of projects. Dr. Wawrzyniak is project manager and study coordinator at Boston Pain Care and is the liaison on collaborative research between Boston Pain Care and Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Marina Treglia, AGPCNP-BC
Marina is a graduate of Regis College. She received her nursing degree and her Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2014 from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.
Prior to joining Boston PainCare, Marina treated elderly patients in their homes as well as in a skilled nursing facility, managing acute and chronic diseases in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. She also has worked in primary care for adults and has also provided urgent care for job-related injuries and illnesses.
