Dr. Spierings was also a clinical professor of neurology and craniofacial pain at Tufts University Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine. From 1999 to 2014, Dr. Spierings was an associate clinical professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital. In October 2019, Dr. Spierings and Medvadis Research joined Boston PainCare where Dr. Spierings continues his research and serves as Director of the Boston Headache Institute.

When Dr. SPierings takes time off, he enjoys playing jazz or blues on the electric guitar and horseback riding at a local stable.
