Every journey begins with a single step!
At Boston PainCare, we meet you wherever you are on your journey to wellness – whether you have an injury that has sidelined you temporarily, or if you suffer from chronic, debilitating pain, we are here for you and we can help. Our clinicians will work with you as a team to develop a customized rehabilitation plan designed just for you, to help you regain your energy and improve your everyday functioning. Together, we can take the steps necessary to improve your life and help you reach your goals.
At Boston PainCare we believe in the team approach – because of the interdisciplinary design of Boston PainCare, our functional rehabilitation staff is in direct daily contact with the providers that have designed your care plan. This allows the whole team to monitor your progress at routine intervals and make changes to your plan at any point. This constant coordination is something that is difficult to achieve at most medical centers, but we think this communication is critically important in order to help you stay on track and get you to where you want to be.
Integral to our multi-disciplinary approach is our collaboration with our Behavioral Health department to address the need for non-medication treatments. We offer treatment modalities to complement medical treatments that are aimed at improving coping skills, reducing the impact pain has on everyday life, improving self-esteem, and improving family and social relationships.
Additionally, Boston PainCare is pleased to offer a complimentary workshop series. The goal of the BPC workshop series is to improve the lives of its patients by providing education and teaching new skills. These workshops cover a wide range of topics related to quality of life, increase in function, and reduction in pain. BPC’s complimentary workshops are open to patients, all members of the pain community, and their families, and many are offered directly following our Functional Activity classes.
We firmly believe that education is a key part of any treatment plan. Our professional staff is dedicated to educating you about your pain condition. When you know more about what causes your pain, you will understand how to help yourself improve and how to manage your symptoms.
The FAST Track Program (Functional Activities Strength Training)
Boston PainCare is proud to offer the FAST Track Program which teaches functional action and skills in a class setting. Each class will consist of a systematic chain of movements designed to help achieve a higher level of functionality. In every class, each group of movements will be tailored to address the pain issues of each individual participant. Participants will learn and practice a combination of simple but complex movements that include:
- Stretching and mobility
- Exercises to maximize the ability to sit, stand, and walk for prolonged periods of time
- Strength and flexibility
- Agility and balance
One of the goals of this program is to help individuals who suffer with chronic pain regain their ability to reduce or minimize their symptoms through simple movement and exercise techniques. So if you are tired of feeling tired, then this is the program for you.
To enhance the patient experience, all of our functional activities are taught by one of our physicians to ensure that all movements and techniques are safe for you. Your safety is our top priority.
Since learning how to perform these exercises is a large component of this program, each participant is strongly encouraged (but not required) to obtain the following equipment for practice at home:
- Walking stick
- Yoga block
- Activity tracker/pedometer (such as a Garmin VivoFit or a FitBit)
- Microwavable Heat Pack
As exercise is an essential part of everyone’s daily routine, we have designed this program so that almost everyone can participate. We will assess your current level of ability to perform activities and then help you achieve your goals. We are eager to help you put the “fun” back into your ability to do functional tasks.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
